Portfolio Allocation

Portfolio Allocation

The first half of 2020 has seen a dramatic increase in stock market volatility. After beginning the year by gaining 4% through mid-March, the S&P 500 lost roughly 35% over the next four weeks. Four months from that bottom and the index now sits at break-even for the year. While it is always a good idea to review portfolio holdings and periodically rebalance your accounts, the volatility in the markets this year may call for a deeper dive to see what part of your allocation has been beneficial and what just is not working. Many industries find themselves at a crossroads, adapting to remote working/learning and a quickened pace of new technology adoption.

All of these contribute to a changing and sometimes challenging investing landscape. There have been many transformative trends in investing the last few years that have seen accelerated growth and adoption the past six months. Whether you choose to allocate to any of these transformative or disruptive ideas or not, it is always a good to be aware of them.
